ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION
The
Center's Ecological Restoration program is focused on design, planning
and implementation of ecological restoration projects in every plant
community and ecosystem in California. Projects
range from small-scale habitat restoration efforts targeted to the
recovery of endangered species, to large scale, watershed-wide efforts
focused on the restoration of physical and ecological processes. Our
Ecological Restoration program has extensive experience in native
habitat enhancement and restoration, harsh site revegetation, invasive
species management and control, native plant propagation, GIS/CAD
planning and design, and sediment reduction to benefit aquatic and
terrestrial ecosystems. Featured Projects
demonstrate our integrated, regional commitment to science-based
restoration, on-the-ground change and the sustainability of ecological
systems.
Founded in 1978, our California Native Plant Nursery
provides the foundation for our native plant revegetation efforts. The
Center's nursery was one of the first nurseries in the country
dedicated to providing site-specific, genetically appropriate plant
materials exclusively for habitat restoration.
Our Ecological Restoration program is supported by a broad array of Partners and Funders, including landowners, foundations, public agencies, universities, volunteers, students and community groups.
The
Center's Ecological Restoration program offers training opportunities
in a diversity of techniques and approaches relevant to the field of
ecological restoration, including watershed assessment, native plant
propagation, invasive species management, habitat restoration, GIS
development and analysis, and curriculum development. Trainings are
designed and customized for all levels of experience - including
experienced natural resources professionals, restoration practitioners,
students, interested community members and landowners.
