WATERSHED SCIENCE EDUCATION & OUTREACH
The Center's Watershed Science Education and Outreach program provides science-based education and training to a broad spectrum of the community including students, landowners and watershed groups.
Education programs for K-12 youth are
focused on the functions and values of watersheds and ecosystems, and
offer an innovative curriculum that incorporates science and math
standards in a dynamic field setting. Students engage in stream
assessment and monitoring, as well as hands-on habitat restoration. Youth participants gain leadership skills by mentoring younger students and leading community restoration events.
Community
education and training programs include workshops, seminars and
publications focused on watershed assessment and monitoring, native
plant collection and propagation, invasive species control, habitat
restoration, as well as science and technology applications in the
natural resources field.
